Site work and paving for a civil project in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

2.1. The Work and Services required of the Design-Builder include those during design and construction of the Project. The Design-Builder shall provide all management, supervision, labor, services, equipment, tools, supplies, temporary facilities, and any other item of every kind and description required for the complete design and construction of the Project. 2.2. The Design-Builder shall be responsible for performing and completing, and for causing all Sub-consultants/Subcontractors to perform and complete the design and construction of the Project as set forth in the Contract Documents. 2.3. The Design-Builder shall provide all Work and Services required by the Contract Documents, including those described as "if required," "if directed," "potential," "optional," "may," or similar adjectives and phrases. This work falls under the appropriate proposal items. 2.4. The Design-Builder covenants that the Services shall meet the performance expectations of the City as described in this Scope. The Design-Builder shall be responsible for achieving Completion of the Project as set forth in the Project Schedule, as the same may be extended from time to time pursuant to the provisions of the Contract. 2.5. The submission of a Proposal shall be conclusive evidence that the Design- Builder has investigated and is satisfied as to the conditions to be encountered, as to the character, quality, and scope of Work, the quantities of materials to be furnished, the local conditions under which the Work is to be performed, and as to the requirements of the Proposal Documents, Plans, and Specifications. 2.6. As the Engineer of Work, the Design-Builder shall refer to the City's preliminary design information for the purpose of preparing a set of Plans and Specifications for the construction. 2.7. The Scope of Work and Services [Scope] shall also include but is not limited to the following: 2.7.1. Conducting investigations and as-built research needed for the completion of design work; 2.7.2. Preparing and completing 100%, and Final design drawings. The Design-Builder is solely responsible for the preparation and completion of design plans for construction; 2.7.3. Obtaining plan check approvals; and providing engineering services during construction, startup, and testing and approval from Department of Public Health for water and sewer separation; 2.7.4. Construction of sewer mains, services, and appurtenances including all work associated; 2.7.5. Construction of water mains, services, and appurtenances including all work associated; 2.7.6. Construction of rehabilitation of sewer mains and appurtenances including all work associated; 2.7.7. Monitoring for potential of any hazardous materials and coordination with local resource agencies; 2.7.8. Value engineering; 2.7.9. Additional geotechnical investigation and potholing; 2.7.10. Performance and implementation of QA/QC; 2.7.11. Landscaping and re-vegetation plan, if required; 2.7.12. Traffic control, striping, overlay, storm water permitting and compliance; Concrete Road shall be restored beyond the edge of the trench cut to the nearest expansion, cold joint, or construction joint. Surface restoration for each phase of the project shall occur at the completion of construction for that phase and not at the end of construction of all phases; 2.7.13. Coordinating with the City Project and Construction Managers and other utility owners/contractors; Coordinate utility relocations with utility owners; and 2.7.14. Scheduling, community outreach and public relations, and preparation of asbuilt drawings and mylars. 2.8. The Design-Builder shall use CADD in compliance with the City's "Consultant Standards for Preparation of PS&E." 2.9. The Design-Builder shall submit and maintain a task oriented computerized schedule for completing the Work over the life of the Project in accordance with Section 6-1, "CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE AND COMMENCEMENT OF THE WORK." 2.10. As required by California Government Code section 830.6, prior to construction, the design (including changes) for the Project and/or any portion thereof shall be approved by the Engineer. 2.11. Caltrans Permit acquisition. 2.12. Permit to work on private property acquisition. 2.13. Replumb agreements acquisition. 2.14. Replumb design investigations, exhibits, coordination with property owners, obtaining signed and notarized replumb agreements for each affected property. Field investigation to find a suitable location for all water meter boxes. License Requirements A or (C-34 and C-42). The linear footage of water pipes in this project is approximately 7,710 linear feet (LF) of 8- and 12-inch water mains to replace existing asbestos cement (AC) water mains, construction of 9,629 LF of new 8-in water mains, and abandonment of 8,549 LF of existing AC water mains. The upgrades in water facilities also require replumb of approximately 420 of 1-inch services and approximately 15 of 2-inch services. The linear footage of sewer pipes in this project is approximately 5,242 LF of 8-, 10-, 12-inch sewer mains to replace existing vitrified clay (VC) mains, construction of 530 LF of new 12-inch sewer mains, rehabilitation of 3,669 LF of existing VC sewer mains, and abandonment of 552 LF of existing VC sewer mains. Construction will also include approximately 102 curb ramps and 6 alley aprons. This work includes all associated water services, fire hydrants, valves, water meters, and other appurtenances.
