Site work and new construction of an educational facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

The MDLS project will redevelop 3 acres that are currently occupied by Biomedical Sciences Way, Pharmacy Lane, and a parking lot adjacent to the existing South Parking Structure. The project adds a new approximately 200,000 GSF building adjacent to an existing parking structure and research facility in the heart of the UC San Diego School of Medicine. The project will house laboratory facilities and faculty offices with five stories above grade, one below grade that includes a vivarium, and an additional below grade basement level with a more limited footprint. Access to the adjacent parking structure will be revised and public realm improvements will also be made within or near the primary project site. Location: University of California, San Diego The estimated construction duration is 887 calendar days. The project will be constructed by Subcontractors each working under a separate contract with McCarthy. These contracts will be based on the Bid Packages/Work Categories listed. Bid Package 2 - Work Category 09-05 - Metal Stud Framing & Gypsum Board Assemblies: 2 0905 Metal Stud Framing & Gypsum Board Assemblies C-9 Project scope for this bid package/work category consists of metal wall framing and ceiling framing and gypsum board. The work will consist of scope included but not limited to the following specification sections. 05 4000 - Cold-Formed Metal Framing 05 4300 - Slotted Channel Framing 09 2116.23 - Gypsum Board Shaft Wall Assemblies 09 2216 - Non Structural Steel Framing 09 2900 - Gypsum Board Subcontractor will be responsible for delegated design and engineering as required by the specifications. The work will further be described in the bid / contract documents. Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $15,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. In addition, the University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Potential bidders will be required to submit their small business outreach plan to the University as part of the prequalification process. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.
