The City of Columbia realizes the importance of parks and recreation as a key to better health and quality of life for its citizens. Parks are more than amenities that provide public places to play, they are key factors that spur economic development, increase the quality of life of its citizens, form the core of many neighborhoods and bring these neighborhoods and communities together. Southeast Park is located in Southeast Columbia approximately two miles east of 1-77. The park features a lake, tennis complex, pickleball, disc golf course, open space, trails, bathrooms and native wooded landscape. With 52 acres of open space, woods and pond, the park provides both passive and active recreation for the community and lush habitat for a variety of wildlife. The park is a hidden gem for Columbia and the Parks & Recreation Department would like to build a new community center with features that would benefit the park and meet community demand for updated bathrooms, community meeting space, office space for park rangers/tennis pro staff and a covered amenity area adjacent to pond. The City of Columbia, hereinafter referred to as the "City," is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to build a new community center at Southeast Park that will be located in Southeast Columbia. The park will be for Columbia and the Parks & Recreation Department. They would like to build a new community center with features that would benefit the park and meet community demand for updated bathrooms, community meeting space, office space for park rangers/ tennis pro staff and a covered amenity area adjacent to pond. This IFB does not commit the City of Columbia to pay for direct or indirect costs incurred in the preparation or presentation of a response or pre-bid costs. Any costs associated with IFB preparation, pre-bid conferences and any other activity prior to award of a contract shall be at the sole expense of the bidder(s).
