As of September 25, 2025, this project has been cancelled. Metro is inviting bids for Blue Lake Park Fishing Tactile Strip. Metro may accept or reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, or waive irregularities not affecting substantial rights if such action is deemed in the public interest. The Blue Lake Park fishing pier was constructed in the early 1960's and renovated in 2024. Renovation work included structural improvements, new shelters, and improved public access. Handrails around the fishing pier were replaced and included alternating sections of lowered railing height for accessible fishing. Per the suggestion of the project accessibility focus group, Metro is installing tactile detection strips in front of the lowered railing sections to alert park guests to the change in railing conditions. Given the location, purpose, and type of use, a fluid, continuous strip that is bonded to the variable conditions of the existing concrete, with zero-edge and low maintenance is desired.Provide all labor and materials necessary to install 56 qty. 24-inch wide zero-edge surface-applied tactile detection strips to existing concrete deck surface in front of lowered railing sections of Blue Lake Fishing Pier. The length of the strips will align with the length of the lowered railing sections and are approximately 116 inches long on average. Total approximate square footage of application is 1,100 sf. The preferred color of the detection strip is white. In addition to installation, work includes but is not limited to: o field verification of existing conditions and dimensions, o management and coordination of work on site, o all necessary preparation of application concrete surface, o water protection measures as required by DEQ, o traffic control, and o final clean-up.
