In partnership with a non-profit organization, DDOT is looking into using the old 11th street Bridge piers foundation to support a new bridge superstructure, deck, land scape and other amenities.The 11th Street Bridge Park Project seeks to reuse the existing pier foundations from the old 11th Street Bridge crossing at the Anacostia River to create an urban destination and park including a pedestrian and bicycle path connecting to trails on both sides of the river. A national competition, led by Building Bridges Across the River and the District Office of Planning (OP), in coordination with DDOT, selected a conceptual design for the bridge park from the winning team.
