Scope of work: The scope of work consists of furnishing all supervision and labor, materials, necessary equipment and tools, utility work, traffic control and public services coordination required for the completion of the Project. The proposed improvements include clearing and grubbing, cold milling of existing asphalt pavement, construction of Portland cement concrete pavement, construction of 2" asphalt concrete, reconstruction of curb ramps, pavement striping and markings, traffic signage, and installation of two new pedestrian signals. All work and resulting facilities will fully conform to the current adopted Coachella Valley State Implementation Plan (CVSIP) for PM-10 including Best Management Practices during the construction process. Engineer's Estimate: $ 993,592 All project work and incidental items to complete the project shall be performed in accordance with the plans, specifications, and other provisions of the contract. All the above improvements are to be constructed in a workmanlike manner, leaving the entire project in a neat and presentable condition. This project is to be completed within 75 working days from the date specified in the Notice to Proceed. Time for commencement and completion of the work is important, and is to be of the essence of the Contract. The successful bidder should plan to order any long lead-time equipment items immediately following Notice of Award. All bidders shall be licensed under the provisions of Chapter 9, Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code of the State of California to do the type of work contemplated in the project. In accordance with provisions of California Public Contract Code Section 3300, the City has determined that the Contractor shall possess a valid Class A, (General Engineering Contractor) or C 12 (Earthwork and Paving Contractor) License and/or other specialty licenses applicable to this project at the time that the bid is submitted. Failure to possess the specified license(s) shall render the bid as non-responsive. The Prime Contractor shall perform not less than 51% of the Contract Work. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Labor and Materials bond in the amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, as well as a Faithful Performance Bond, in the amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price. Each bidder shall submit with its bid a statement setting forth its experience on the forms included in the Bid Proposal. The Contractor shall not begin any construction activity at the site before the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Any work that is done by the Contractor in advance of the Notice to Proceed shall be considered as being done at the Contractor's own risk and responsibility, and as a consequence will be subject to rejection.
