Gloucester County is seeking quotations form a qualified, licensed, and insured contractor to remove all woody vegetation including shrubs and trees, root balls, and roots greater than or equal to one inch on the embankment and within 25 feet of the toe of the County's reservoir dam. Furnish and provide all labor, supervision, transportation, soil, compaction, leveling, flowable fill, and other necessary materials to remove woody vegetation and repair the dam surface. The Contractor shall provide temporary erosion and sediment control measures prior to removal of any vegetation and land disturbance and ensure that all erosion and sediment control measures are properly maintained until permanent vegetation is established. The Contractor shall verify there are no existing utilities in the work area. Verify locations of woody vegetation to be removed on site prior to beginning work. Remove all woody vegetation including shrubs and trees, root balls, and all roots greater than or equal to 1-inch in diameter on the embankment of the dam and within 25 feet of the toe of the dam and disposed offsite. The Contractor shall remove riprap as necessary to remove vegetation. Following the removal of vegetation within the riprap soil shall be replaced, recompacted, and stabilized, and then geotextile fabric and riprap shall be replaced all within one workdays' time per Riprap Detail A on Sheet C-501 in the attached plans. All work areas must be sized to allow for stabilization of disturbed area within one workdays time. All voids created when removing woody vegetation in the grout mat slope protection shall be patched with flowable fill. All areas with existing grass ground cover removed due to traffic or the removal of woody vegetation shall be re-seeded with a temporary and permanent seed variety and mulched. LOCATION: Site Address is 8214 Reservoir Ridge Rd., Gloucester, VA 23061. Equipment access to the dam site will be provided off Ashland Farn Rd., via a County right-of-way easement. Any damages to this shared right-a-way easement shall be repaired by the Contractor following the completion of work on the dam. Question Deadline 09/09/2024 at 3:00 PM ET Questions or comments regarding this solicitation shall be directed to the Buyer. All questions shall be submitted in writing (email is preferred). Period of Performance: Work shall be completed in 60 days following Notice to Proceed. A County issued PO will serve as the Notice to Proceed. Contract time extensions requests caused by weather must include documentation confirming that weather patterns were outside of what is classified as normal for this region (and season) and resulted in lost workdays over and above those which could be normally anticipated. WARRANTY: Contractor to provide work with a minimum one-year warranty guaranteeing structural stability of the repaired dam surfaces in work areas.
