Cedar Rapids Community School District intends to enter into a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract for the construction of two new elementary schools on Hoover and Van Buren elementary sites. Cedar Rapids Community School District will publish a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Construction Manager at-Risk (CMaR) services for the project on September 17, 2024. The CMaR will be chosen using a two-step solicitation process and chosen on "best value." The proposed new elementary schools will be designed to accommodate 4 sections per grade level of Kindergarten through Fifth Grades, with areas for Administration, Commons, Gymnasium, flexible spaces, etc. Site improvements include new parking, along with a new bus drive. Additional scope includes the demolition of the existing elementary school buildings once the new schools are placed into service, and construction of new playground equipment. Work is desired to be complete by Fall 2027
