Site work and outdoor lighting for a water / sewer project in Hampton, Virginia. Working plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; and for outdoor lighting for a water / sewer project.

THE CITY OF HAMPTON IS SEEKING BIDS FROM QUALIFIED BIDDERS TO FURNISH AND INSTALL LIGHTED SIGNAGE FOR THE CITY OF HAMPTON MARITIME CENTER. The City of Hampton does not discriminate against faith-based organizations or against a bidder or offeror because of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other basis prohibited by state law relating to discrimination in employment in the performance of its procurement activity. SCOPE OF WORK The successful Offerors specific duties for this production shall include, but not be limited to the following: 1. Supply and install two lighted or back-lit signs sized to-scale. Maritime Center sign dimensions are a frame 7 deep and Letters that are 5-1/5 off the frame. The sign is 185-1/2 wide and 54 high/long. 2. Signs are to be affixed to the stucco band over the front and rear entrance doors with proper noncorrosive mounting hardware to meet all current building codes and located as indicated in the attached. One sign will be located at the front, street-side of the building beneath the second-floor balcony, and a matching one on the water-side of the building beneath the second-floor balcony. 3. Sign text content with City brand will be provided to vendor upon award. Rendering and sample materials should be provided to City prior to build. 4. Work completed by the vendor will be turnkey; the vendor will install the building brackets needed for signage, signage design and production, and all necessary electrical work. City will provide the source of electricity. 5. All electrical work to install and maintain lighting fixture must be installed by contractor according to accepted industry standards. This electrical requirement is very important as the signs will be subject to weather conditions. Signs will be fabricated to meet all current U.L. Code and City signage requirements. The electrical service will be contained in a water-tight electrical box to avoid exposure to the elements. Reverse-lit channel letters will be fabricated with sealed seams and will have removable clear Lexan backs. Letters will be illuminated with exterior grade LEDs to endure the harsh environment and weather conditions. All wiring and power supplies are to be placed in a location that shields it from any and all exposure to the elements. 6. Signs are to be back-lit with easy accessibility to light fixtures to minimize difficulty in replacing lighting bulbs or fixture. Channel letters are fabricated with removable aluminum letter cans to allow easy access to the LED lighting. Letter cans can be removed from the Lexan backers by removing the mounting screws holding the letters together. 7. Lighting should be of sufficient strength to showcase lighted sign and provide for lighting over the doorways to the ground below. It is suggested to use white LEDs to illuminate the sign to allow for sufficient light as required by the project. Other recommended technology recommendations will be considered. 8. Signs are to be made of durable materials to withstand winds and extreme water and moisture. Letter cans to be fabricated out of minimum .063 to maximum .125 aluminum to ensure proper strengths of letters. Lexan backers are to be minimum .325 thick to ensure proper strength of letters. Proper noncorrosive mounting hardware to be a minimum .25 thick based on size of signage. 9. Any and all permits needed to complete this project must be obtained through the City of Hampton Community Development Department on the third floor of Hampton City Hall, 22 Lincoln Street, Hampton, Virginia. 10. Appropriate contractor license is required for installation and maintenance, and insurance coverage as detailed in this RFP. Questions. Offerors must submit questions regarding the RFP in writing to the Issuing Office via email to tmartin@hampton.gov no later than 3:00 PM EST on September 19, 2024.
