The Alternative Public Works contracting procedure authorized in RCW 39.10.300 through 39.10.330 will be utilized for this project. This project will utilize the Progressive Design/Build delivery method. Contractors with previous design/build experience or experience using a similar alternative construction delivery format are encouraged to submit. During the project, the Design/Builder will receive overall direction from designated representatives in the Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) Planning & Construction Office and will work collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve project objectives. In addition to staff from the TPS Planning and Construction Office, this team may include representatives from other District departments, the Design/Build Consultant (Parametrix), other district consultants and members from the community. This project will include programming, design and construction of upgraded theater performance lighting and house lighting systems for multiple school sites across the District. Generally, the scope of work may include, but is not limited to, evaluation of existing systems and the programing, design, construction and integration of upgraded theater performance lighting and house lighting systems and related infrastructure. The design and construction budget for this project is approximately $2,300,000. The District reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to increase or decrease the scope, value and duration of this project and the related contract. This project is funded under a capital bond that was passed by voters in February of 2020.
