Renovation of a municipal facility in Pond Inlet, Nunavut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Pond Inlet, Nunavut, is a community of approximately 2000 people located on the shore of Pelly Bay, just off the Gulfof Boothia, Nunavut. Pond Inlet power plant consists of four generators. The plant's install capacity is 2670 KW. The install Firm Capacity (IFC) of the plant is 1820 KW. With 80% production boundary, the plant can reliably generate 1456 KW. Current community load demand is 1367 KW. The community is growing, and the community load demand is expected to reach 1600 KW in 2030. Generator Set G3 (Guscor- SF360TA 550 KW) was installed in 2009. The generator set has reliability and maintenance issues. This genset needs to be replaced. QEC is planning to replace this generator set with upgraded capacity of 750 KW to satisfy current community load demand and provide reliable power supply for the community. TIMELINE: All trades are secured by the contractors.
