The library building has been constructed in two phases, beginning with the original building (1911). An addition to the west was added in 1963. The addition consisted of concrete masonry units with face bricks, like the original library construction. The library addition has five narrow window units which are 125.5 inches high. The narrow window units will have operating units in the middle section of the replacement windows. The other window unit in the library addition has a window unit has a wide width and is 125.5 inches high. The planned replacement window units for the addition will be extrude aluminum units. The original library window units will be double hung with extruded aluminum on the exterior and wood on the interior. There will be five double hung window units, two spandrel glass units, one basement awning unit and four basement wood venting units which supply outside air for the HVAC system. The west fire escape door shall be removed and replaced. The existing metal frame can is not planned for replacement. The west fire escape shall be removed and replaced with a steel fire escape. Chadron Public Library Foundation reserves the right to reject all bids and to waive informalities in bids submitted. Along with a bid proposal, each bidder shall submit an unconditional bid bond or certified check payable to the Chadron Public Library Foundation in an amount equal to five (5) percent of the bid Proposal.
