Pritchard Street is a secondary North-South connector road in the Historic District that parallels Heyward Cove. This project includes the planning and construction of drainage and water quality infrastructure improvements to include installation of catch basins, storm drainage pipes and infiltration Best Management Practices (BMPs). In late FY23 the scope of the project was increased to include streetscape elements from Bridge Street to Bruin Road to include sidewalk improvements, street lighting, traffic calming evaluation/implementation and ADA evaluation/implementation. The goal is to improve pedestrian connectivity/safety, improve traffic safety, improve existing drainage conditions, reduce risk of flooding and improve water quality of stormwater runoff prior to entering Heyward Cove. The project is included in the city's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of September 10, 2024, project design, permitting, easement acquisition and Dominion lighting agreement is in process and scheduled for completion in fall 2024. Bids for construction are scheduled in winter 2024 with construction expected to be completed in fall 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
