This Limited Scope project entails resurfacing of Route 40 between mileposts 51.77 & 57.53 (Segment 1), 59.70 & 60.40 (Segment 2), and 61.60 & 63.50 (Segment 3). Route 40 is comprised of flexible and composite pavement areas in fair to poor condition. Work will include milling of the existing mainline and shoulder pavement and placement of new paving composition; upgrades to all guiderail to current MASH standards; improvements to bring 225 curb ramps into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; replacement of substandard signs; new traffic signal equipment, striping and raised pavement markers; and upgrading 18 existing signalized intersections to meet current MUTCD and Department standards. The work includes minor deck and joint/header repairs to three culvert structures and two multi-span bridge structures within the limits of the resurfacing project and installations of a one new DMS sign structure and two CSS camera systems.
