The project includes demolition, right turn lane construction from Route 86 onto South Main Street, reconfiguring the intersection at Stokes Street, adding curb and gutter, modifying the drainage system, move a utility pole, add sidewalk, and add pedestrian crossing. The current configuration can be confusing to drivers and has received complaints from citizens to City Council. This intersection gets congested at times and is a major route for rescue vehicles heading to the hospital emergency room from the south.
