Large Potable Water Valve Replacement Project Orange Avenue & Carson Street / San Antonio Drive, Stearns Street & Lakewood Boulevard Question Deadline 09/26/2024 at 4:00 PM PT All communications relative to this Work shall be directed to the Owner prior to opening of the bids: Board of Public Utilities Commissioners of the City of Long Beach 1800 East Wardlow Road Long Beach, CA 90807-4931 Attention: Mr. Matthew Cruz, P.E. Telephone: (562) 570-2332 Matthew.Cruz@lbwater.org Description of Work: the Work Includes Furnishing Products, Labor, Tools, Transportation, and Services to: 1. Maintain Water Service and Pressure to Water System Throughout Construction. 2. Follow City-approved Traffic Control Plans. Set Up and Maintain Traffic Control Devices Throughout Potholing and Construction. 3. Perform Potholing Operations to Verify Location of Existing Underground Utilities and to Measure Outside Diameter of Existing Large Diameter Pipelines (Wherever Tapping Sleeves and Couplings Are Proposed). 4. Protect in Place Existing Utilities. 5. Excavate to Expose Existing Pipelines, Large Valves, and Small Valves. Work Will Include Exposing Existing Waterlines at Linestop Locations. 6. Construct Linestop Assemblies and Anchor Blocks. 7. Isolate Segments of Existing Waterlines. a. Remove two existing 20-inch gate valves and replace with 20-inch butterfly valves, b. Remove and replace four small diameter gate valves, c. Remove approximately 40 lineal feet of 20-inch cast iron waterline and replace with 20-inch ductile iron waterline, d. Abandon approximately 147 lineal feet of 12-inch cast iron waterline, and replace with 12-inch ductile iron waterline, and e. Remove approximately 32 lineal feet of 6-inch cast iron waterline and replace with 6-inch ductile iron waterline. 10. At the Orange Avenue and San Antonio Drive intersection: a. Remove two existing 20-inch gate valves and replace with 20-inch butterfly valves, b. Remove and replace two existing 12-inch gate valves, c. Remove approximately 30 lineal feet of 20-inch cast iron waterline and replace with 20-inch ductile iron waterline, and d. Remove approximately 86 lineal feet of 12-inch cast iron waterline, abandonapproximately 77 lineal feet of 12-inch cast iron waterline, and replace with 12-inch ductile iron waterline. 11. At the Stearns Street and Lakewood Boulevard intersection: a. Remove one existing 20-inch gate valve and replace with one 12-inch gate valve, b. Remove two existing 12-inch gate valves, c. Abandon existing 20-inch cast iron waterline, d. Remove and replace approximately 15 lineal feet of 30-inch cast iron waterline and replace with 30-inch ductile iron waterline, e. Construct approximately 24 lineal feet of 12-inch ductile iron waterline, and f. Remove approximately 53 lineal feet of 12-inch cast iron waterline and replace with 12-inch ductile iron waterline, and g. Remove existing fire hydrant and replace with 6-inch fire hydrant assembly. 12. Pressure test and disinfect all project improvements. 13. Backfill and recompact all excavations. 14. Restore pavement to preconstruction conditions. Work Site: the Work Site is Located in the City of Long Beach, California at the Following Street Intersections: 1) Orange Avenue and Carson Street, 2) Orange Avenue and San Antonio Drive, and 3) Stearns Street and Lakewood Boulevard. Bid Security: Bidders Must Scan and Upload With Their Bid Documents a Certified Check or Bank Draft Payable to the Long Beach Utilities Department, Drawn on a Solvent Bank in the United States of America, or a Satisfactory Bond in an Amount Not Less Than 10 Percent of the Bid. The Original of the Above Instrument Shall Be Included in the Receipt of Bids Stated on Page 1 of Notice Inviting Bids. Contractor's License: the Contractor Shall Possess a Valid California Class a (General) Contractor License at the Time the Contract is Awarded. Failure to Possess the Specified License May Render the Bid as Non-responsive Completion of Work: the Work Must Be Completed Within One Hundred Twenty (120) Calendar Days After the Commencement Date Stated in the Notice to Proceed. The Owner Reserves the Right to Reject Any or All Bids, to Waive Any Informality in a Bid, and to Make Award to the Lowest Responsible Bidder as It May Best Serve the Interest of the Owner.
