This is a Major Works contract offered for the performance of Arrow South Maintenance within the Selkirk Forest District. The objective of the works is to provide safe access for the public to High Value Rec Sites and Trails, Parks, Rural Residences and Communities. Works will be assigned priority and prescribed by the Ministry Representative. The work includes, but are not limited to; snowplowing, brushing, ditching, culvert intake/outlet clean out, culvert replacement and armoring, snag/woody debris/rock ravel removal (end haul), bucking out of leaners, bridge and road sign replacement, landslide debris removal, stacked rock fill repairs, cutbank rock ballast placement, rip rap/lock block placement. All required materials (i.e. culverts, lock blocks, rip rap, signs, signposts) to be supplied by the Ministry of Forests. The contractor will be required to haul the materials and place them under this contract. Pick up of materials will either be at the District Office in Castlegar, or the MOF Salmo storage compound. Materials may also be delivered to the site by the Ministry Representative. Most works planned for this contract can be performed by one excavator, one grader, one swamper, a dump truck, and water truck only when required. The Marshalling Point for this contract is Casltegar, BC. All travel associated with this contract will commence from this location. Roads selected for snowplowing and other maintenance are based on the Ministry of Forests Engineering Funding Policy. Conducting maintenance on FSRs servicing high value recreation, rural residential and community access. These roads typically see higher amounts of traffic. Grading and other maintenance of these FSRs will help to maintain a safe driving surface for public use and promote natural drainage, to prevent environmental damage.
