The City of Salem, Virginia, is requesting sealed bids from qualified Contractors for all labor, materials, and equipment needed for the renovation and new garage for Salem Fire Station #2, located at 415 S Electric Road, Salem, VA, For questions regarding this bid, please contact: Michelle Braxton, Purchasing Manager P.O. This One Hundred Eighty (180) day period shall be the Period of Performance for Substantial Completion. Plan Holders List not maintained. General description of the Station renovation: This proposed project is a Level 2 Alteration to an existing previously occupied building with a current or past Certificate of Occupancy issued by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). This Level Alteration includes the elimination or addition of a door, extension of a building system, and the installation of new equipment. A change of occupancy is not proposed. An addition to the existing structure is not proposed. The existing building is not in a Flood Hazard Area and is not Historic. The proposed work area under this permit includes renovation of the existing main level bathroom, update of building finishes, and renovations to mezzanine level living spaces. This proposed project consists of the renovation of an existing two (2) story commercial building and comprehensive site development. The existing building is slab on grade, masonry construction, with brick veneer and storefront windows construction. Each interstitial floor consists of metal joists and composite concrete deck. The roof consists of metal bar joists and membrane. The building consists of equipment bays, kitchen, living spaces, and an added dormitory lean-to. Vertical building circulation is provided by one (1) stairwell. General description of the Garage building: This proposed project consists of a new one (1) story commercial building and comprehensive site development. The proposed structure is slab on grade, with pre-engineered metal building framing. An interior mezzanine proposed to be metal bar joists with a composite concrete deck with intermittent metal beam/joist framing. Vertical building circulation is provided by one (1) stair to the mezzanine. The building consists of storage spaces. The building is not in a Flood Hazard Area.
