This project will provide for the replacement of the existing field surface on the Carolina Miracle League Field at North Spartanburg Park. The current surface has exceeded its useful life. This project will include the removal and disposal of the existing surface and will include 24,000 square feet of 10mm Mondo Super X athletic surface with painted game lines. The Spartanburg County Parks Department Strategic and Master Plan was adopted by Spartanburg County Council in December 2022. Supporting health and wellness, education, and workforce readiness by providing youth development programs and family-oriented recreation activities and special events was included as a goal of this plan. The Plan also specifies the continued management of Special Olympics and the Therapeutic Recreation Program. Finally, this project addresses potential safety and maintenance issues. This project is included in the county 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of October 15, 2024, groundbreaking took place on September 30, 2024.
