Site work and paving for a road / highway in Chesapeake, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
This project funds a channelized westbound right-turn lane on Kempsville Road at Battlefield Boulevard for vehicles accessing the southbound Great Bridge Bypass/Oak Grove Connector (Bypass) on-ramp to reduce congestion at the intersection. Vehicles turning right to proceed northbound on Battlefield Boulevard or the Great Bridge Bypass will still turn right at the existing signal. The southbound onramp acceleration lane length will also be extended to meet current design standards and improve the operations of merging traffic Project is included in City of Chesapeake Fiscal Year 2026-2030. As of August 12, 2025, project is funded for construction in 2027-2029 with design in 2026-2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
