Demolition, site work, paving, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Gainesville, Florida. Working plans call for the addition of a educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; parking garage; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The Dental School is currently housed in the Dental Science Building. This building does not meet the needs of the College and the College needs renovated and/or new space to meet their educational requirements and continue to rise in the rankings nationally. The potential addition will provide a new welcoming space; clinical teaching, clinical student, and clinical resident space; Faculty Practice clinics; clinical support; teaching labs; simulation labs; Classrooms; School amenities; administration offices; faculty offices; Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic; and research space. In addition, it will remove a parking lot. This will enhance the accessibility for physically challenged patients and visitors by proximity and providing a connected covered parking option for when it is raining. Project Budget: $198,647,435 The project consists of a building addition and the renovation of dental program floor levels within the existing Dental Science Building. The extent of the addition and the existing building renovation subprojects will be determined based on design approaches, funding, construction timing, integration with other projects, and other factors. The current total estimated construction budget for the Addition and renovation is approximately $80,000,000 and $56,000,000, respectively. The project will be delivered using the Construction Manager At-Risk method. Three Green Globes certification by the Green Building Initiative is mandatory.
