The Town of Stanley (Town) last constructed a police headquarters in the early 1940's and is proposing the construction of a new police building. The Town purchased land for the building in previous budget cycles. The North Carolina state legislature, during its 2023 session, awarded the Town a grant to construct a new police department. For the purpose of reference, the Town of Maiden, NC constructed a new police department in 2018. It is the desire of the Town of Stanley to construct a similar facility. The Town estimates an approximate construction budget of $3.5 million dollars for completion of this project including all costs and fees. Total costs include construction related expenses; architectural programming, design and construction related services; testing services; public jurisdiction fees and charges; permits; and other building related professional service feesnecessary to fully complete the project.
