Reference Number 0000366748 Aurora's Martin Luther King, Jr. Library and Municipal Service Center is located at 9898 E. Colfax Ave. in what is commonly referred to as Original Aurora or North Aurora. The Michael Brendle designed building was opened in April 2005 with a branch library (Martin Luther King Jr Library), meeting spaces, and small café occupying most of the first floor and other city offices on the second floor. The first floor café and the second floor offices are now largely unoccupied and the city wishes to remodel the spaces for library programming. The remodel will allow use of the additional space for activities to align with the Library's mission to empower the members of our community to Live, Learn, and Achieve. The remodel will activate the unused space and enhance the energy of the building by providing a welcoming and inviting space for residents of all ages to engage in a variety of activities. PRE-QUALIFICATION: Prime Contractors have been pre-qualified for this Invitation to Bid. Bids shall not be accepted from firms other than those pre-qualified firms on this solicitation. This advertisement is for the sole purpose of identifying this procurement action to potential subcontractors who may wish to participate through the selected prime contractor. Pre-bid Conference/site Visit Walk-through: All attendees shall gather at the front entrance of the MLK Library. It is incumbent that all participants arrive on time. Buyer Preferences, Guidelines & Requirements General Requirements - Bidder Prequalification/Preregistration Required - Bid Deposit Required - Federally Funded - Insurance Required Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % - Performance Bond 100 % - Payment Bond 100 % Failure to complete the work as prescribed shall be considered as a Breach of Contract and subject to Liquidated Damages which are $200.00 per day. The Contract Documents require that Substantial Completion shall be within 210 Consecutive Calendar Days and Final Completion shall be completed within 240 Consecutive Calendar Days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost for this project is from $1,900,000.00 to $2,300,000.00. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The City of Aurora reserves the right to amend, by an addendum or addendums, this IFB at any time and/or a multiple number of times prior to the date set for receipt of the submission of responses/offers.
