The City of North Sioux City is now accepting bids for solid waste and recycling hauling for the City of North Sioux City. The Contract would be for January 2025 through December 2027, with the option to extend for an additional three (3) years if mutually agreed upon. Solid waste and recycling hauling would be done on every Thursday. Holidays may extend the day of service to Friday. Day of services are subject to change upon agreement between contractor and the City. Services to begin garbage and recycling pickup would start January 3, 2025. The chosen contractor would be responsible for hauling solid waste from approximately 800 current residential properties for a total of 1600 garbage receptacles and 800 recycling receptacles. Also, the chosen contractor would be responsible for hauling 2 dumpsters and 1 roll off. Quantities are subject to change with new residential properties. Costs should be calculated per household and per service (garbage or recycling). The chosen bidder must provide all receptacles. The chosen contractor would be responsible for providing two (2), two-wheeled garbage carts, approximately 96 gallons in size, to every residential customer inclusive to contract price for garbage and lawn waste. Bidder provides care and retains ownership of the carts for maintenance purposes. Include price per cart if customer requests additional cart. The chosen contract would be responsible for providing one (1), two-wheeled recycling cart, approximately 96 gallons in size, to every residential customer requesting recycling, inclusive to contract price. Bidder retains ownership and maintenance of carts. Include price per cart if customer requests additional cart. The bidder shall submit with the Bid a bid bond in an amount of not less than ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the Base Bid for highest years' service. Checks not certified will disqualify the bid. The certified check or cashier's check shall be drawn on a bank in South Dakota or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States of America and payable to City of North Sioux City as a guarantee that, if awarded a Contract by City of North Sioux City, the Bidder will enter into a Contract at the prices bid and furnish the required Certificate of Insurance. The certified check or cashier's check may be cashed, and the proceeds retained as liquidated damages if the Bidder fails to execute a Contract or file acceptable Performance and Payment Bonds or provide an acceptable Certificate of Insurance within ten (10) days after the notice of award of Bid by resolution of the Owner. No Bidder may withdraw his Bid for at least thirty (30) calendar days after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids. The successful bidder will be required to carry liability insurance naming the City of North Sioux City as additional insured in a minimum amount of $1,000,000 combined single limits.
