The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as "VDOT") is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide on-call, as needed fencing services. Services will be performed within Augusta, Page and Rockingham Counties of the Harrisonburg Residency within the Staunton District for the Virginia Department of Transportation, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia in accordance with specifications contained herein. Awards will be made on a Lot Total basis. VDOT reserves the right to make multiple awards to all responsive and responsible bids determined to be fair and reasonable within the following locations: Lot 1: Augusta County Lot 2: Page County Lot 3: Rockingham County PERIOD OF CONTRACT: From_12/1/2024 through 11/30/2025 (renewable) SCOPE OF WORK: 1. The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, supervision, equipment, tools, parts, materials, supplies and incidentals as necessary to provide on-call as-needed, new fence and gate installation; and repair or replacement of existing fence. The quoted price shall be the for equipment, equipment operator (when required), materials, accessories, normal mobilization and all associated expenses including but not limited to; profit, direct and indirect costs, administrative cost, equipment and personnel transportation, cellular phones, pagers, handheld radios and transportation, set-up and break down of signs and stands. 2. The installation and repair shall consist of the use of materials specified by VDOT. The Contractor shall be responsible for all material orders ensuring all dimensions and lengths are correct for locations identified. New fence shall be installed along a line marked by VDOT. Replacement fence shall be installed along the same line and grade as the existing. If the Contractor is unable to install replacement fencing immediately following removal of old fencing, the Contractor is required to erect temporary wire fabric fencing or 4 strand barbed wire. 3. If cattle or other livestock are present on a neighboring property, prior to removing existing fence, the Contractor shall install temporary fencing of sufficient strength and durability to contain cattle or other livestock until such time as the new fence can be installed or repaired. Providing, installing and removal of temporary fencing shall be considered incidental and shall be included in the bid price for the installation of new fence or repair of the existing fence. 4. VDOT will notify Miss Utility (va811.com) seventy-two (72) hour prior to commencing ground disturbing activities. These activities may consist of, but are not limited to, installation of posts. Work shall not begin until utilities are marked. The Contractor will be responsible for any damages caused when "Miss Utility" (va811.com) guidelines are not followed. 5. The Contract Administrator or designee will coordinate with the Environmental Division on all work that will be performed. In the event there are activities that require permits or special restrictions/notifications of any kind, the Contractor will abide by the permit requirements and any other restrictions or regulations at all times. If the contractor fails to abide by the permit requirements, they may be considered in default and held responsible for any resulting additional purchase and administration costs.
