Miscellaneous Rehabilitation and Repairs of Small Diameter Waterlines Work shall include repairs of primarily small diameter water lines using clamps or wraps, replacement and/or new installation of small diameter water line, valves and appurtenances (20 inches in diameter and smaller), including mobilizing and cooperating with City to develop appropriate rehabilitation solutions for water lines resulting from emergency breaks, leaks and customer complaints. Work under this project shall also include the replacement of fire hydrants and associated valves as needed. The amount of work to be performed may vary from no construction activity to times when contractorshall be required to mobilize multiple crews to meet multiple Work Order requirements. The work items shall be as per Document 00410B- Bid Form, Part B of this Project manual. All debris, except Valves and Fire Hydrants shall be disposed of at a lawful disposal site at the Contractor's expense. Restoration work, including pavement of driveways, sidewalks, streets, trees and special landscaping after the necessary "repair" jobs are also covered as per Document 00410B- Bid Form, Part B. B. All valves and fire hydrants that are removed and/or replaced shall be returned to the City of Houston (7101 Renwick, Houston TX 77081) at the end of each month. Contact Project Manager or designee by email at least 24 hours in advance. All returned materials must not be missing parts and should be returned in the condition found at work site. C. Contractor shall conform to the latest City of Houston, Houston Public Works Infrastructure Design Manual and Standard Construction Specification, COH Drawings and Details, whichever is the most stringent. Omittance of applicable specifications from this document does not relieve the contractor from compliance with City of Houston specifications. The installed cost for this work shall be incidental to other items of work. Installation of new water mains up to 5,000 LF may be requested. E. Contractor shall make every effort not to damage or disturb existing driveways, sidewalks, curbs, vegetation, fire hydrants, other utility lines and service connections. 1. Demolition of sidewalks or driveways to be scheduled at the end of construction keeping impact on pedestrians to a minimum. Sidewalks to be ADA compliant and shall be kept free of equipment, materials and debris during construction. 2. Replacement of sidewalks should always be constructed to maintain partial sidewalk access during waterproofing and re-installation of sidewalk. In the event metal plates are used to allow the temporary opening of a street, driveway or sidewalk, these shall have skid-resistant surface. 3. Concrete and site/yard work, including pavement of driveways, sidewalks and streets repairing and/or resurfacing of concrete, asphalt and/or lawn areas and any associated work ("restoration") shall be completed within (9) days after the repairs are completed. i The minimum thickness of driveway paving is 6 inches for single family use and 7 inches for others, or as existing in case it exceeds the minimum. Question Deadline 10/17/2024 A. Bidder shall immediately submit Document 00220, Request for Bid Information, to Project Manager upon finding errors, discrepancies, or omissions in Bid Documents. Confirmation of receipt of questions by the City is the responsibility of Bidder. Verbal discussions and answers are not binding. B. Document 00220, Request for Bid Information, must be received at least 10 days before the Bid Date to allow issuance of Addenda in accordance with Paragraph 7.O.D. Replies, if issued, are by Addenda.
