Saving Project...

Renovation of an educational facility in Syracuse, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking qualifications for the full design services (programming, design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration), of an architect / engineering team to meet the increasing demand for compounding due to the growing number of patients. The second-floor Cancer Center pharmacy needs to expand its square footage. We want this area reviewed to figure out the best way to expand our hazardous and non-hazardous compounding rooms. We want to update the cleanrooms to meet the new United States Pharmacopeia (USP) cleanroom standards and look to keep the same number of staff in the area. The current setup has separate rooms for hazardous and non-hazardous compounding. Our plan is to expand the number of hoods from three to six, with three hoods for hazardous compounding and three for non-hazardous compounding. The new hoods will be more energy-efficient and require less exhaust. We also need to include three new Laminar Flow workbenches for non-hazardous compounding and three class 2A2 biological safety cabinets that are externally vented for storage. This reconfiguration will require new HEPA purged pass-thru chambers from the pharmacy work are to the cleanrooms. To expand the space, we need to relocate the existing pneumatic tube station and extend the existing dumb waiter from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor. This change will likely displace four pharmacy staff members, and we need to find a solution to keep them in the area. Our objective is to keep the same number of staff in the area while creating more space for compounding. The project area is approximately 1540 square feet. There will be no formal site visit nor will tours of the facility be given prior to the receipt of responses to the RFQ. A minimum of 5 years of experience in design of pharmaceutical laboratories and hospitals for both the architectural firm and its team members is required. Request for Qualifications (RFQ) are attached below and may be download by all firms interested in responding to this advertisement. Responses to the RFQ should describe the consultant's experience and qualifications to undertake this work as described therein. The successful firm will be required to provide evidence demonstrating that the firm and any of the firms' engineering, land surveying, architectural or landscape architectural sub-consultants, are legally authorized by the NYS Education Department to do business in NY State. All firms must also provide proof of New York State Worker's Compensation Insurance and Disability Insurance coverage. All questions to be by fax or email (email is preferred) to each: Ivy Lopez (LopezI@upstate.edu) and Charles L. Johnson (Johnsoch@Upstate.edu). The date and time for the last questions to be considered is 5:00 PM - Monday, October 21st, 2024. All questions will be answered by 5:00 PM - Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024. These will be issued as an Addendum. State University of New York also has a goal for the Work Force participation: EEO 10% WBE and EEO 10% MBE of total work force on the project. The selected consultant will be required to comply with M/WBE requirements.
