All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be submitted to Engineer in writing only. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer, in response to such questions, will be issued by Addenda to all plan holders registered with the Issuing Office. Questions received less than 7 working days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered. Only questions answered by Addenda will be binding. The Project consists generally of the following major items: BASE BID: o Replacement of existing motor control center and pump control system o Replacement of existing conduit and wiring o Installation of a new 1,800 gpm pump and associated piping o Replacement of existing surge control valve o Addition of bypass pump connection o Replacement of existing slide gates in influent channels o Removal of existing underground storage tank o Replacement of other miscellaneous components ALTERNATE BID: o No. 1 - Diesel Backup Pump System o Installation of a 3,800 gpm permanent diesel backup pump o Construction of a concrete floodproof structure for the bypass pump o Construction of a concrete influent structure with motorized gate o Installation of bypass pump suction and discharge piping o Miscellaneous site improvements to accommodate bypass pump and associated elements o No. 2 - Magnetic Flow Meter Vault o Install precast concrete meter vault with sump pump o Modify existing piping and install magnetic flow meter Bid Security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid must accompany each Bid and shall be subject to the conditions provided in the Instruction to Bidders Furthermore, the Citys goal is to contract or sub-contract fifteen percent (15%) of the contract amount to certified MWBEs on construction projects over $300,000, or with contracts that include $100,000 or more in state funding.
