The State of Michigan DTMB Design and Construction Division is seeking a Professional Architectural and Engineering Request for Proposal (RFP) for window system replacement at the MDARD Geagley Laboratory. Services requested are Phase 100 Study for facade design options, Phase 300 Schematic Design, Phase 400 Preliminary Design, Phase 500 Final Design, Phase 600 Construction Administration - Office, and Phase 700 Construction Administration - Field. The building was constructed in the late 1950s. There have been some modifications and additions since then. Most of the existing window system appears to be original and consists of a metal frame with glass and aluminum panel, storefront-type system. There are some single windows and areas with integrated metal louvers for mechanical system. Existing drawings are limited and contain no building elevations or wall sections are available however floor plans are available. DTMB will consider alternate infill systems, but a design is not required for the RFP. Designs are to be included in Phase 100 Study. The intent of the project is to provide an energy efficient replacement window system to reduce operating costs and improve user comfort. Design work to begin fall of 2024. Construction bidding late winter or early spring of 2025. Completion of work late fall of 2025. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
