Project Information Sealed bids will be accepted from qualified contractors by Oscoda Area Schools for the Oscoda High School Asbestos Abatement project. Bid Security A bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid amount is required and shall accompany the bid. Bid security may be in the form of a bid bond issued by a qualified surety authorized to do business in the State of Michigan, a cashier's check, or money order payable to Oscoda Area Schools. As part of this work asbestos containing materials must be abated. The WORK covered under these PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS is intended to accomplish the necessary abatement work needed. The WORK shall be completed by a State of Michigan licensed asbestos abatement contractor with only accredited abatement workers and abatement supervisors completing the work in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requirements. The scope of work includes removal of asbestos containing floor tile & mastic, asbestos containing ceiling tile and drywall, asbestos containing thermal system insulation, and asbestos containing caulks; along with demolition of mechanical piping and HVAC systems. The project is expected to be completed over a two-year time period beginning in June of 2025 and being completed the end of summer 2026. The Owner has contracted Northern Analytical Services, LLC. (NAS) to prepare these Project Specifications and to perform oversight and air quality testing. NAS will perform all necessary asbestos air clearance testing in accordance with AHERA.
