Concrete Wall Spalling Repair by Police Garage Repair deteriorated concrete wall header at top of stairs - beneath handrail up against the corner. Approximate area of repair: 10" W x 40" L We assume this repair will be completed without removing the handrail as the handrail is one piece all the way down the stairs and would require removal/rigging of the entire staircase. Remove door canopy and reinstall after wall repairs are complete. Re-caulk joint between canopy and concrete walls when reinstalled. Approximate area of spalling repair: 10' W x 14' H V-notch all cracks and fill with hydraulic cement as per design. Demo/remove all existing deteriorated patches and bad material. Clean all exposed steel reinforcement of corrosion/rust oxide and coat with a rustinhibitor. Patch all chipped-out areas with cementitious concrete patch material as per manufacturer recommendations. If it is desired for us to skim coat the entire 10' W x 14' H area with this same patch material to create a more aesthetic and uniform appearance, please bid as Alternate Add #1. Clean/paint rusted anchors beneath stair landing platform. Clean/paint 90 elbow in middle of wall approximately 4' above finished slab level. The City will remove any electrical conduit in the path of the repairs prior to start date. The entry door underneath the stair will need to be shut down during construction. Contractor's scaffolding can be left in place for the entire duration of the project. Contractor will barricade/tape off the area with danger tape and cones. Also provide signage redirecting pedestrian traffic to an alternate route. Seal new patched area with clear penetrating cure & seal compound at proper design period after application of patch. Complete clean-up of work premises.
