The project consists of upgrading the original building's HVAC system to a air source VRF system. This also includes the installation of a roof mounted energy recovery unit and removal of exhaust fans. Work also includes the replacement of ceilings, and any electrical modifications needed to facilitate the HVAC equipment upgrade. Doc Note - Bidders may obtain project manuals and drawings as described in Notice to Bidders. Bidders will be charged for damaged or missing documents unless: 1) Bidders submit a bona fide Bid and return the Bidding Documents in good condition within (15) fifteen days after receipt of Bids. 2) Non-bidders return the Bidding Documents in good condition within four days prior to receipt of Bids. The cost of replacement of any missing or damaged documents will be paid by the bidder. 3) A Bidder receiving a Contract award may retain the Bidding Documents. 4) Bidders shall use complete sets of Bidding Documents in preparing Bids; neither the Owner nor Design Professional assumes responsibility for errors or misinterpretations resulting from the use of incomplete sets of Bidding Documents. Bids must be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the maximum value of the bid, including add alternates. Bid security of the three lowest bidders in each category will be retained until contract is awarded or until thirty (30) days after the opening, whichever is shorter. Bid security of all other bidders will be returned promptly after bids are opened and read. If any bidder fails, refuses or neglects to enter into a contract, or provide satisfactory surety bond, the Owner will retain his bid security as liquidated damages, but not as a penalty. Bid security shall be made payable to the order of: Iowa City Community School District All bidders shall take into account the Owner's desire that construction be substantially complete on or before August 13, 2026. Refer to project phasing notes on sheet G200 for interim deadlines and the desired phased completion of the project. Notwithstanding any delay in preparation and execution of the formal contract agreement, each bidder shall be prepared, upon written notice of bid acceptance, to commence work within fourteen (14) days following receipt of official written orders of the Owner to proceed, or on date stipulated in such order.
