As of October 6, 2025, there is a delay in construction due to budget constraints and a need for a larger facility. The construction of the aquatic center will be postponed for an estimated three to five years to allow additional fundraising and planning. Timeline for construction is delayed 3-5 years. The Sedalia Parks & Recreation Department is soliciting qualifications to provide design services for the new outdoor aquatic facility. This project will be located at 613 E. Broadway, Sedalia MO, 65301. This site was previously railroad property; therefore, we require an environmental engineer to be included on your design team. Scope is to include the following items and is expected to be adjusted for a total construction cost around $8 million: 25-meter lane pool with two (2) 1 meter diving boards Large lazy river 2 Slides Zero-entry kiddie pool Pool house restrooms & office space The Sedalia Parks & Recreation Department will narrow the number of firms to be considered based on qualifications, similar project experience, and references. It is understood that the Sedalia Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to reject any or all qualifications. Firms may be requested to make a presentation and/or provide written clarification at the request of the Owner. Each firm shall be responsible for all costs incurred to prepare and submit their qualifications.
