Demolition and site work for a residential development in Sterling, Illinois. Completed plans call for the demolition of a two-story above grade residential development; and for site work for a residential development.
Removal of a Two-story Residential Building The City of Sterling will receive sealed bids for the removal of a two-story, residential building located at 907 1 st Avenue and legally described as the - DNSMOR PENGTON-COE ADD N 1/2 LOT 2 BLK 4 DOR 23-098-00018 302500x, in the City of Sterling, Whiteside County, Illinois. PIN: 11-21-260-010. All proposals shall be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check payable to the City of Sterling for an amount which shall not be less than ten percent (10%) of the bid, to be held as damages should the bidder to whom an award is made fail to execute the contract and bond for performance of work. Labor employed on this work shall be paid not less than the minimum rate of wages for the various classifications of workers employed. This project is funded with public money provided by the Illinois Housing Development Authority. The City of Sterling reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in bidding. Payment of this work will be by check upon completion of work. There will be no progress payments. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a contract bond on the form of bond furnished by the City of Sterling, which bond is attached to the Contract Documents. A cash bond or authorized Letter of Credit is also acceptable. No bid may be withdrawn after scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for at least ninety (90) days. Proposals are requested for the removal of a two-story, wood frame structure with a full basement at 907 1 st Avenue, Sterling, Illinois. Detached garage is to REMAIN. Proposals are to include the demolition and removal of the residential structure including the footing and foundation system, all contents contained therein, all concrete sidewalks located upon the property and restoration of the site as referred to in the Unit Specifications. The Contractor will take all precautions to safeguard and prevent damage to all adjacent properties, including 1st Avenue and other public Rights of Ways. Other miscellaneous items will be referred to in the Unit Specifications. SCOPE OF WORK The successful bidder will be required to furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary to remove the residential building and all concrete including work on foundation walls and footings. Other miscellaneous items to be removed are described herein, shown on the drawing, or as required to provide a clear area. Detached garage is to REMAIN. Extreme caution shall be exercised at all times to avoid damage to the adjacent private properties, all public streets, all public sidewalks and public utilities within the rights of ways. Temporary barricades shall be erected by the Contractor during demolition and site improvement procedures to safeguard the public at all times from sunset to sunrise. The contractor shall furnish and maintain barricades equipped with flashing warning lights. If lane closure of any street is anticipated, Contractor will provide barricades and lane closure warning signs in accordance with I.D.O.T. specifications. All existing storm water drainage lines, sanitary sewer, gas, water, electrical and telephone utilities serving the property shall be dismantled, plugged or capped according to conditions encountered during operations, or as may be required by authorized agents of the City of Sterling. Do not cover these units until inspected by representatives of the Sterling Building Department. It will be the responsibility of the successful bidder to notify J.U.L.I.E. (811) for location of all underground utilities prior to the start of demolition and at such times as necessary during demolition and removal activities. The City of Sterling shall notify all utilities and power companies for disconnection prior to demolition. Should it become necessary for the contractor to access adjacent private property to perform demolition work, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to contact the owner of the adjacent property for permission to utilize that property. All agreements to utilize the property will be between the contractor and the property owner. Other miscellaneous work required on this parcel includes the following items: 1. Remove and dispose of all foundation walls and footings of the residential structure. 2. Remove and dispose of furnace duct, piping, electrical, or other miscellaneous hardware attached to or extending from the building to be demolished. 3. Remove and dispose of all materials, equipment and appliances, and all other contents contained within the structure to be demolished. 4. Remove and dispose of the concrete floor, footing and foundation of an old garage. 5. Remove and dispose of all concrete patio slabs and associated sidewalks. 6. Remove all vegetative growth adjacent to the foundation. 7. All trees located in the rear yard shall remain, but trim as necessary for access to the structure. 8. Broom-clean the areas adjacent to the site on a daily basis. 9. Rubble and debris shall not be piled and shall be immediately placed in trucks for removal.
