Site work for a water / sewer project in Greenup, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

This project involves removal of the existing potable water treatment plant and concrete storage tank at Greenbo State Park in Greenup County, KY. Construction of a new water storage tank on the existing site, reconnection of the city water supply t the tank, and new SCADA controls between the remotely located city water tank fill valve, the new tank level controller, and the main SCADA communications controller located in the lodge mechanical room on the same site. Electrical power modifications include medium voltage underground feeder rework at the water tank, relocation of the existing two-way radio antenna tower adjacent to the new tank, and new 120/208 volt power and Class II control wiring at the tank site for the two-way radio repeater and SCADA controls and at the valve site for SCADA systems. Additional branch circuit and communication wiring is included inside the lodge building. Interconnection with the existing DDC building automation system for monitoring of the tank level and fill valve status will be provided by the incumbent DDC controls contractor for the lodge building. Furnish, erect, and finish a welded steel water storage tank(s), including foundation, tank structure and tank appurtenances as shown on the Project Drawings and specified herein. This Specification is written for tanks installed within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. GREENBO LAKE TANK A. The tank shall be nominal 132,000 gallon capacity with dimensions of 39 feet diameter and 15 feet side wall height. B. One 8-inch diameter stainless steel overflow pipe equipped with an anti-vortex entrance detail shall be provided and extended to outfall as shown on the Drawings. C. The maximum design inlet rate is 500 gpm. The maximum design withdrawal rate is 4,000 gpm. WELDED STEEL TANKS A. The roof shall be of low cone design, with a minimum slope of 3/4 -inch rise in twelve (12) inches run. The transition knuckle between the shell and roof shall be butt-welded plates, 1/4 -inch thick minimum, curved to a radius of 3'-0" inches in the radial direction. The knuckle plates shall be formed to the tank radius in the circumferential direction. B. Earthquake Design. The tank shall be designed to withstand earthquake loading as specified in Section 3.1.5 of AWWA D100. The design percentages shall be based upon the tanks location as being in Seismic Zone 2. C. Location. The tank shall be located as shown on the Drawings. D. The design snow load shall be a minimum of 25 lb./sq. ft. E. The tank shall be designed to withstand wind loads produced by a 100 mile per hour wind. F. Foundation Bearing. Subsurface investigation has been done at the tank site and that report is contained in the Appendix to these Specifications. Boring layout and logs are contained in the Drawings. G. Tank welds shall be inspected using radiographic methods as outlined in Section 11.4 of AWWA D100 specifications. 1. The Contractor shall engage a qualified inspection firm, licensed and bonded in the State of Kentucky, to provide radiographic inspection of the tank welds in compliance with minimum standards specified by AWWA D100. 2. The Contractor shall provide a summary report, prepared and certified by the radiographic inspection provider firm, with analysis of inspection results and recommendation regarding compliance with the controlling AWWA D100 Specification. Three (3) copies of the inspection report, including copies of all radiographs, shall be provided to the Owner. 3. All costs associated with the radiographic inspection of welds and the written report shall be borne by the Contractor and included in the Bid Price of the tank. 4. Defective welds detected shall be corrected in compliance with AWWA D100 and re-inspected. Trepanned sections will not be allowed. Additional compensatory radiographic inspection shall be provided if required to comply with the AWWAD100 Specification, and at no additional cost to the Owner. 5. The Contractor shall submit a Certification of Compliance statement to the Engineer as outlined in AWWA D100 specifications. H. Pipe connections shall be as shown on the Drawings. I. A removable silt stop extending six (6) inches above the tank bottom shall be provided. J. The inlet/outlet pipe shall have a minimum of 3'-0" of cover over the pipe to planned finish grade. K. All steel surfaces shall be cleaned by blasting (see painting of tank). L. The tank contractor shall provide the structural design of the tank and foundation and detailed drawings of the tank foundation and associated appurtenances. The design and drawings shall be certified in writing by a qualified professional engineer who is licensed to practice in the State of Kentucky. M. All seams shall be continuous weld. N. All primer coats and painting shall be done in the field after the required abrasive blasting. No factory shop primer will be accepted. File No- CKYGWT
