Reference Number 00004273611 RFB for the procurement of a third-party vendor to lead the development of a catalogue of Standardized Designs (the “Catalogue”) for long-term care (LTC) homes. The Catalogue should include schematic designs of LTC building components such as resident bedrooms, dining rooms, washrooms, utility rooms etc., and any other areas of a LTC home specified by the ministry. The selected vendor is also expected to provide recommendations to incorporate the use of the catalogue within the 2015 Long-Term Care Home Design Manual (the “2015 Design Manual”) and develop illustrative design examples of designs which may be used for homes renovating within an existing building footprint. Scope of Work TThe Catalogue will be used to improve the design approval process by providing detailed drawings of the design requirements for LTC home operators to follow, allowing architects to combine the Catalogue with other site-specific components. It is anticipated that the use of the Catalogue will reduce unnecessary resubmissions and rework of design submissions to the ministry. The Catalogue will assist the sector with both design submissions by improving the process for obtaining Preliminary Plans which will in turn allow homes to start work on the Working Drawings earlier. The ministry anticipates the implementation within 2025-26 fiscal year. It is anticipated that all operators developing LTC homes within Ontario, will be able to use the Catalogue and the updated 2015 Design Manual to support their project development.
