Renovation of a mixed-use development in Berkeley, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Scope of work includes but is not limited to: Relocation of an existing working fly food kitchen and media prep facility from Koshland LL41/45 to GL 11. To ensure continuous operation of the facility, GL11 construction must be completed with one kettle and client must approve facility, which will require at least one week of testing prior to relocating and installing the second kettle. Koshland GL11 and GL11D/E - Laboratory renovations will include, but are not limited to, the following: - Demolition and construction of interior partitions. - Selective HVAC demo, and installation of new supply and exhaust duct work. Installation of new steam capture hood connected to the buildings exhaust system. - Relocation of existing electrical circuits. New circuits required for lab equipment. Selective demo of light fixtures and control. Installation of new light fixtures, UV lights, and controls, - Steam supply and condensate will be extended to the new location of steam kettles. Steam and plumbing connections will be made beneath the floor slab. - Modification of existing utilities to supply new sinks and equipment needed. - Existing steam kettles, along with associated controls, will be relocated and installed in the new suite. License Requirements: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: “B” – General Building Contractor The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. Estimated construction cost: $400,000 This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements. Contract Time: 95 days
