Renovation of a museum in Vandalia, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.

All historic window restoration work at the Vandalia State House State Historic Site (Vandalia State House) shall be furnished and installed in accordance with the "Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings," US Dept. of Interior, National Park Service, Preservation Assistance Division, Washington D.C. Included in the supplies and services provided is the full restoration of four (4) failed windows and (2) sills include: Removal of four (4) double hung windows in the cupola including sashes from jambs. Work will include temporary boarding to the openings, removal of old hardware, glazing puddy, and glass (old glass and hardware will be cleaned and re-used). Sashes will be stripped of finishes, small holes, checks, and notches shall be filled, and sanded smooth. Interior/Exterior of the sashes and jambs shall be primed (with oil-based primer) and top coated with two (2) coats of latex paint (to match). Restored sashes shall be restored and optimized to fit and function. Jamb tracks and sills shall be finished to bare wood. Small holes, checks, and notches shall be filled and sanded smooth. Damaged windowsills (with custom fir wood sills) shall be replaced. Outer stop and parting beads shall also be replaced. Both jamb tracks and sills shall be primed (with an oil-based primer) and top coated with two (2) coats of latex paint (to match). Failed (and rotting) sash rails and mutins shall be replaced with new custom wood (fir) replica at the south window (upper sash, 3 mutins, and bottom rail), east window (upper sash, 3 mutins), west window (upper sash, 2 mutins), and west window (lower sash and upper rail). Replace three (3) spring bilt at each double hung window. Replace two (2) failed cast stone sills (includes labor, equipment rental, and removal of debris from the site). Cast stone shall be replaced with stone to match existing stone sills. Permits and licenses necessary for the execution of the work shall be secured and paid for by the Contractor.
