Site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Mariposa, California. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for the construction of a road / highway.
Plans called for the phased construction of the Ferguson Project. The first work package began Spring 2015 and was completed November 2015. The second work package began Spring 2021 and was completed in the Fall 2024. Construction on the third work package will commence November 2025. The Ferguson Project is located within the Merced River Canyon on State Route 140 approximately 7 miles east of El Portal near Yosemite National Park. The purpose of this permanent restoration project is to restore full highway access to State Route 140 on the existing alignment that has been blocked by a rockslide that occurred in 2006. Traffic is currently detoured around the rockslide via two temporary bridges that cross over the designated Wild and Scenic Merced River onto a single lane narrow USFS road (Incline Road) using one-way traffic control signals.
