The project is located at 111 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario. This work will be performed at the successful bidders studio/workshop facility.The subcontractor must demonstrate as requested in 6.3.2 Major Projects and Ongoing Projects and 6.3.3 Comparable Projects that they are capable of completing the following: Fresco Restoration/Conservation Projects: Bidders must demonstrate they have been a technical authority and undertaken restoration/conservation projects on frescoes (buon fresco/mezzo fresco) that includes their technical assessment, full conservation treatment including restoration, structural treatment, handling, packing, housing and storage while following conservation standards that recognize and mitigate risk from physical forces and indoor climate. Please note: Materials, techniques, and quality workmanship will follow known professional standards like the Code of Ethics and Guidance for Practice of the Canadian Association for Conservation (CAC/ACCR) or international equivalent. For the purposes of this prequalification, fresco is defined as per The Getty Institutes Art and Architecture Thesaurus: Paintings made by the technique of fresco painting, which is a mural painting technique in which permanent pigments, dispersed in water, are painted on freshly laid lime plaster." In other words, a fresco refers to a painting that involves water-soluble paints applied to wet lime plaster. Once the plaster sets, the painting becomes an integral part of the wall. Bidders are to identify each of their two fresco projects as being buon fresco (can also incorporate mezzo fresco, secco techniques) at Appendix 4, and provide all details as noted. Bidders must demonstrate that they personally have successfully executed and directed hands-on comprehensive conservation treatments to significant works of art executed with fresco techniques.
