The Queensway project, from Burma Drive to Humber River and the Local Roads Smithfield Dr. and Ringley Ave in accordance with all requirements as outlined in this RFP, associated appendices and the City of Toronto Standards and Policies. Including portions of Grand Ave, Woodford Park Rd, Park Lawn Rd, Stephen Dr, High St, a portion of MUP connection to Mimico Creek Path, and a portion of trail connection to Humber River Rec. Trail on the south side to be constructed/re-constructed in conjunction with the actual The Queensway complete street plan. Road reconstruction, rehabilitation, watermain replacement, traffic signal installation, coordination with utility work, new sidewalks, new cycle tracks, retaining wall & slope stability, bridge load assessments, hydro pole relocation, power distribution pole relocation, street lighting upgrades, traffic calming measures, green infrastructure, urban forestry, local roads resurfacing, etc. TIMELINE: An RFP for design has been issued by the owner. The City of Toronto has completed 30% functional design for the road reconstruction & complete street and traffic signals on the Queensway from Burma Drive to Humber River. The 30% functional design has been prepared based on the proposed cycling infrastructure and completed on February 15, 2022. Please review Appendix B for the drawings, analysis and reports included in the 30% functional design. The scope of work includes preliminary and detailed design of the watermain replacement, hydro pole relocation & potential power distribution, traffic signal work, street lighting update, local roads resurfacing and green infrastructure and a new sidewalk along the south side of the Queensway in the proximity of the TTC Streetcar Humber Loop that requires preliminary and detailed design of a retaining wall. It is estimated that construction will start in 2027. After the emergency repair of several bridges on the Gardiner Expressway by the B&G unit during 2025 and 2026. The Proponent should consider the possibility that two (2) separate construction contracts and tender documents need to be prepared (e.g., watermain, electrical work, complete street) to be able to expedite the construction phase.
