Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Hays, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Ellis County Kansas Commission is accepting Request for Proposals (RFP), to replace approximately 9,500 square feet of concrete parking. The parking lot is located at the Ellis County Administrative Center, 718 Main Street in Hays Kansas. The parking lot to be replaced is on the East side of the building, which is the west part of the parking lot. The East part of that parking lot was recently replaced. An image of the parking lot is attached at the end of this section. Schedule to complete work shall be stated in each proposal. No Sales Tax is to be included and the successful company will receive a tax exemption certificate upon award if requested. An Insurance Certificate listing a minimum of two-million-dollar ($2,000,000) Umbrella Liability policy for up to two million dollars per occurrence shall be requested of the successful bidder. The total project costs should not require the contractor to secure a performance bond per KSA 60-1111. The scope for the project includes but is not limited to the following major areas. If the contractor plans to provide different specifications as listed in the proposal, they will be accepted and reviewed for comparison. Parking Lot The base bid for the project is to include demolition, debris removal, and replacement concrete for the area specified below. Curbing is to remain in place and not replaced. Saw Cutting will be required in several locations. Once the existing parking lot is removed, the sub-base should be compacted with approximately 2" of crushed concrete before the new concrete is poured. The concrete specifications should be a KDOT approved 4000# mix design, at a minimum of 6" thick. The concrete paving shall include 6x6x6 construction mesh. Concrete shall be dowel pinned together on typical construction joints. If the concrete is poured in the winter months, it shall be poured with an appropriate winter mix design and protected from freezing. If the concrete is poured during the summer months, it should include curing compound and protected with wet blankets to protect it. Expansion joints and shall be used where necessary and joint filler should be used to fill all joints. All typical expansion joints will have smooth dowel bars at 24" on center. All barrier curbing should also be dowel pinned at 24" centers. Any saw joints should be cut to 1/4 of the pavement depth. Heavy duty welded wire mesh shall be used throughout the pavement area. Pavement Markings The new pavement shall be painted with new markings, to include the approved ADA compliant stalls, to match and continue from the east side of the parking lot up to the building. All pavement markings should be made with pavement marking grade paint. An example of the parking diagram is included in this RFP.
