The Ministry of Forests has a property on Crown Land near the village of Pemberton for the operation of the Pemberton Fire Zone. The Fire Base Zone is located in close proximity with a main highway, near the village of Pemberton. The Ministry is seeking to develop the fire zone and provide sufficient and healthy workspace for the current and projected staffing levels. The zone houses BC Wildfire Staff on a permanent basis and may have seasonal crews working there depending on fire incidents and their locations. The zone is situated between two riverbeds and near the Pemberton airport. The village of Pemberton issued evacuation orders due to flooding in the area in January 2024. A landslide risk of Mount Currie was assessed in 2018. Furthermore, the existing septic field does not meet current requirements and is of a significant age.
