New construction of a road / highway in Watsonville, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a road / highway.
Green Valley Road Improvements for Carey Ave to Thicket Lane. The pavement is deteriorated and many of the curb ramps do not comply with American Disabilities Act guidelines. Project highlights and enhancements will include: Pedestrian enhancements, including reconstructed curb ramps, improving accessibility; Upgraded pedestrian signals at Carnation Avenue, improving accessibility; New pavement for smooth and safe ride for bicyclists and vehicles and improved pedestrian safety at crosswalks; and New striping for improved visibility. The project qualifies as Categorically Exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in accordance with CEQA Guidelines Section 15301, CE Class 1, maintenance of existing streets involving no expansion of capacity. Public Works staff has filed a Notice of Exemption with the Santa Cruz County Clerk. Bid opening is tentatively scheduled for August 27, 2024, and the plans and specifications are on file in the City Clerk’s Office. The engineer’s estimated construction cost for this project is $3,100,000. The project is estimated to begin construction in late 2024 or early 2025 with a duration of approximately five months.
