The University of California, Merced plans to construct Classroom and Office Building 3 (COB 3), an approximately 42,000 ASF, 61,600 GSF facility, with completion anticipated in 2027. COB 3 will support the launch of 12 new undergraduate majors and minors and will include three major instructional venues: a large auditorium, a round lecture hall, and a medium case-style lecture hall. It will complete the Social Justice Quad, serving as a central hub for the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (SSHA), and providing academic, advising, and student tutoring services, along with a dedicated space for UC Merced's new Honors Program. A prominent feature will be the CAPE (Center for Analytical Political Engagement) program, located on the first floor, designed to engage the campus community and visitors in active political discussions.
