Question Deadline 11/18/2024 at 3:00 PM PT Online Q&A Yes 1. Existing Conditions: The wood media is located outdoors within a concrete retaining wall structure on the north side of the facility. The wood chip media rests above an engineered "floor" of perforated Bac Tee Aeration plates. The plates, in turn, are installed above large air ducts that deliver process air from the composting facility into the biofilter. 2. Media Manufacturing/Delivery/Installation New biofilter media for the project shall be produced by manufacturers who regularly engage in the production of wood chip media and have a successful history of product acceptability, as interpreted by the IERCF staff. Task 1: Procurement of new biofilter media To assure the delivery and installation of the highest quality biofilter media the Contractor shall abide by the Biofilter Media Specifications that are listed in "Attachment A". Task 2: Removal and disposal of all aged/exhausted biofilter media Refer to "Attachment B" for original construction drawings of the biofilters at IERCA. The aged/exhausted biofilter media shall be completely removed from the job site by the Contractor. The biofilter consists of a total of 12 cells of material, each cell is approximately 86.75' ft wide by 135 ft long (refer to Attachment B). The Contractor will provide all equipment and labor necessary to perform this task including all necessary surface irrigation pipe handling. The Contractor shall be responsible for safe transportation, including all freight costs for the removal of old media from the job site, handling, labor, equipment and disposal costs, if any. The Contractor can use a front-end loader to remove media, provided the front-end loader will not exert a pressure greater than 40 pounds per square inch, per each wheels contact area, on the biofilter Bac Tee plates. The Contractor shall be financially responsible for replacing any floor plates damaged during the installation or removal of biofilter media. Only a max of 2 biofilter cell, (2 sub cells) can be shut down at any given time for all biofilter media replacement processes. Task 3: Removal of Bac Tee Aeration floor plates, cleaning of concrete flooring and air channels. The biofilter Bac Tee Aeration floor plates will be removed and replaced by contractor. Once removed, the concrete surface and air channel beneath will be cleaned by contractor. All dirt and debris will be removed by hand or applicable small equipment. Dirt and debris cannot be washed away with water unless contained and vacuumed to remove any solids. Dirt and debris will be disposed of by contractor. Final rinsing of concrete surface after cleaning is possible. The Contractor will provide all equipment and labor necessary to perform this task. Wash water is available at the job site. Only 1 biofilter cell, (2 sub cells), can be shut down at any given time for all biofilter media replacement processes. All Bac Tee Aeration floor plates deemed undesirable for reuse will be supplied to the contractor by IERCA. Task 4: Delivery of New Bio-filter media The Contractor shall be responsible for safe transportation, including all freight costs for the delivery to the job site, handling, labor, equipment and storage of the new biofilter media. New biofilter media shall be put into place immediately after the cell has been cleaned and Bac Tess have been set back in place. The contractor shall provide sampling and inspection access to IERCF staff, as requested, for each truckload of new biofilter media arriving at IERCF. Bulk density sampling will also occur on a regular basis to ensure accurate cubic yards are tracked for IERCA compliance and contractor billing reconciliation. Only 1 biofilter cell, (2 sub cells), can be shut down at any given time for all biofilter media replacement processes. Task 5: Installation of new Bio-filter media Refer to "Attachment B" for original construction drawings of the biofilters at IERCA.
