Site work and new construction of a clubhouse / community center in Hampshire, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a clubhouse / community center; and for site work for a clubhouse / community center.
As of November 7, 2024, per owner, the bond did not pass, therefore the project will not be built. The Hampshire Park District is seeking voter permission to borrow $13 million to build a community recreation center on November 5, 2024. The money would also be used to refund existing bonds that were sold to buy the land where the center would be located. In April 2023 voters rejected an increase in property taxes to buy the land and build a community center. It is estimated that it will take a total of 18-24 months from approval of a referendum for the project to be complete. This timeline includes 10-12 months for the complete design process and another 12 months for construction. If Park District residents do not approve the referendum, the proposed capital project will not be built.
