Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.

This project includes: the existing 8-foot HMA trail shall be reclaimed and used as the base material for a new 12- foot PCC trail with associated slope and shoulder construction. The project also includes the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices, such as trail closure signs and related work as specified in the contract documents. Additionally, the preparation and management of a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and all necessary erosion control measures are part of the contract. The Base Bid or the Base Bid and any combination of Add-On Bids shall be awarded at the City's discretion. Contractor must bid on the Base Bid and ALL Add-On Bids. The Base Bid includes the North and South Loops, bridge approach pavement, and Harrison Parking Lot Access. The Add-On Bids include separate bids for the Fletcher, Stone Brooke, and Edgewater Ct. accesses Each bid shall include the bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Said bid security shall be based on an amount equal to at least 5% of the bid amount. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. After award, approval of contract and performance bond, and once the trail is closed: the City is allowing ten (10) weeks for construction. Work on this contract shall be substantially completed by November 21, 2025. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
