The Marshfield Athletic Field Turf Project consists of football, softball, and baseball fields. The Owner reserves the right to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder and to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality on all bids. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days. All bidders must provide a sworn affidavit affirming participation in a federal work authorization program and stating that the bidder does not knowingly employ any person who is not authorized to work in the U.S. The contractor must comply with current Prevailing Wage laws and other statutory regulations of the State of Missouri. This project is tax exempt. SCOPE OF WORK: It shall be the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR to verify measurements of the installation areas as well as to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and tools necessary for the complete installation of a vertical-to-horizontally draining synthetic turf system, with natural cooling additive materials on a structural base. The work shall include but is not limited to the following items: Locate and secure clearance for all project specific utilities. It is solely the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR to repair damaged utilities. The beginning elevations for the existing athletic fields will be determined by the current elevations of the perimeter curbing or the existing track or field. The finish elevation of the newly installed artificial surface will match those shown on the drawings or outlined in this specification. The CONTRACTOR shall bear the responsibility of meeting the specified slopes and elevations. If necessary, all geotechnical testing and land surveying for field placement and layout is the responsibility of the OWNER. Remove and dispose of organic materials. Excavate site to depth required to accommodate required cross-section, slope and finished grades. This material will be removed and disposed of by the Contractor. Contour, slope, laser grade and compact remaining sub-base to required sub-grade. Install a 4" structural base using 10-gauge welded wire mesh and pouring concrete with a minimum 3,000-psi with keyway elevation, expansion joints 15' in one direction and saw cut in the perpendicular direction OR install a 2" structural base using a 3,000-psi concrete with a minimum 40-millimeter steel, aluminum, or polyolefin structural grid with built in expansion joints. Install a concrete curb around the full perimeter of the field, around the existing high jump area and around the event runways. Curb shall be 6" wide by 10" deep and contain two horizontal strands of #3 rebar with vertical #3 rebar strands every 5' throughout the curb. Curb will be poured using 3,000 psi concrete. Install a perimeter anchor to the newly poured curb encompassing the proposed turf areas with a pressured treated nailer to match the finish grade of the structural base. Install perimeter collector trenches with geotextile fabric, perforated pipe and clean, fractured drainage stone and tie in as shown on the accompanying drawings. All trench, pipe and stone specifications will be part of the drawings. Install a shock pad with horizontal and vertical drainage capabilities that meets the performance requirements of the pre-approved products listed. Install an artificial turf, tufted to a maximum 1.5-inch height, having 100% polyethylene fibers with a dimensionally stable primary backing that meets the performance requirement as delineated herein. Install all tufted and inlaid lines and markings as shown on attached renderings. Install a cooling additive to enhance the ability of the surface to absorb or disperse heat. Additive shall not be visible once applied and shall not be organic. Clean site per owner's instruction and dispose of any unwanted materials.
