Site work and new construction of an educational facility in St. John's, Newfoundland. Completed plans call for the construction of a 123,785-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
Closing Time: 3:00 p.m. ** Please note that there has been 11 addendum for this project. ** Question Acceptance: Deadline: 2025/03/12 03:00:00 PM NST The goal of this project is to construct a new 11,500 m2, three-storey school located in the City of St. John's off Ladysmith Drive. The building-space planning is complete and the floor plan is approved by the Client Department. The Design-Builder may make changes to the floor plan layout for locations of utility rooms, mechanical rooms, penthouse, and storage rooms; however, the general layout of the building, classrooms, lobbies, administration, and functional rooms cannot be changed. The school shall be designed and constructed to achieve LEED Silver certification. The Owner desires innovation through optimizing building performance and construction costs. As such, some flexibility on the part of the bidder has been built into the Score Card. To achieve energy efficiency and a high-quality indoor environment, the building design and construction will necessarily provide a durable, air tight, and high insulation-value exterior wall assembly and glazing. Additional high performance building strategies include maximizing daylight, energy- efficiency lighting with occupancy sensors, access to exterior views, and operable windows. Operable windows throughout the building will encourage the use of natural ventilation, even though mechanical ventilation is being provided. In general, windows will be designed to provide both daylighting and views to the exterior. The design process for the building will adopt a durable building philosophy that incorporates high quality thermal insulation and air and vapour barrier products to be incorporated into the building-envelope systems, along with careful detailing of transitions, connections, penetrations, etc. The building envelope shall be designed and constructed in accordance with all referenced and applicable codes and standards and good practice for the building type to suit local climatic conditions that may be encountered. Proponents will design stormwater systems to meet the requirements of the most recent climate change data available, including, but not limited to, Intensity-Duration Frequency Curves and precipitation projections. Please refer to https://www.gov.nl.ca/ecc/occ/climate-data/ for more information. All Proponents must include, in their Proposal submissions, an Agreement to Bond from a certified Surety licensed to do business in Newfoundland and Labrador, agreeing to provide the Bonds listed in this clause. The Successful Proponent shall provide to the Owner a Performance Bond and a Labour and Materials Bond, each in the amount of 50% of the Total Amount Payable. The award is conditional upon the provision of these bonds. Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
